Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was in the room for journalist Don Lemon’s court appearance after he and fellow journalist Georgia Fort were charged with federal crimes stemming from covering a church protest in St. Paul, Minnesota. Bass called the government case “an embarrassment” and noted the role race may have played in the arrests.
